Is it possible to switch from Navy DEP to USMC DEP?
My cousin wants to go to USMC bu the is already in Navy DEP.
Is there a way he can switch? His ultimate goal is to be a SEAL but he wants to have a back up job and the navy has nothing else remotely interesting to him.
So can he switch DEP programs, then become a SEAL while in USMC?
If he goes to USMC he wants to do Special Reaction Teams or something similar to that. You know of any other jobs similar?
Any Naval equivalent to SRTs?
To answer your basic question: Yes, DEP is not binding in any way. The Navy guys might not like it, but ultimately the decision is your cousins.
As of right now, the only other service I know of that allows members to participate in the SEAL program is the Coast Guard and that is very limited.
Out of curiosity, what does he want to do?
**If he is wanting to work in those kinds of fields he is going to have more luck in the Marines. If he washes out of SEALs, like many do, he would have to work a regular Navy rating...not that there aren't some exciting ones...but not many like what he wants.
