How would i transport a full computer tower on a plane?
Hello i am going to be attending a LAN and i am going to have to use an airline to get there and i was just wondering what would be the best possible way for me to transport my computer with the least hassle and the least harm for my computer itself. Is there a way i could maybe FEDEX it to the hotel room i am staying at or would it just be best if i checked it on the plane if anyone could maybe direct me in the best way i would appreciate it thanks!
Ive gone to plenty of Lan-Partys, Here in the US and Abroad.
If its possible, id suggest 3 things.
1. UPS(United Parcel Service) to a Secure location. Hotels, often will not hold items, unless the room has been pre-payed for. then, After inspection, it is delivered youre you.
2. Take it on the plane. i have Done this once. but, i HIGHLY suggest you do the following. it will save alot of time, and risk of damage.
if you use Water or Vapor cooling. Dis-Assemble it PRIOR. id also suggest taking youre Hard-Drive, Processor, and Ram. Place these in Anti-Static Bags(and a CPU case), and take these as Carry-on. as far as the case. id suggest a Full-lanBag(the ones the Completly incase youre case, and put it in a un-marked Box, 1x's larger than the case. to protect it from Damage.
they will check youre PC(not the data ofcourse, because its been separated). for weapons or Smuggling, but you dont have to worry now about EMI damage from there Scanning equipment, or Mis-Handling.
3. Send it via a Secured Carrier, RPS(Royal Packaging Service), Which Delivers Things in the most pristine state Possible. Door to door Service, White glove care. But i warn you, Its pricey. 15lb = $200/USD.

Ultimately, id suggest either a Secured Carrier like RPS, or Rent a Car, and Drive youre self.
